The Mysterious Number 80 Crantham Street - Main Cast and Lead Characters

Steve Hay plays the lead role of Paul Rogers, an ICT consultant working at Mango Connect. He and his wife, Alyssa, have recently moved into Crantham Street. As the story unfolds, more is revealed about Paul during the week leading up to the events that culminate in his stabbing.

Ella Fryer-Smith plays the lead role of Alyssa Rogers. Arrested at the beginning of the drama for stabbing her husband, Paul, Alyssa works as a carpenter for Wendleton City Council in the Parks and Green Spaces Department. The physical nature of her work helps her maintain her recovery from drug addiction.

Andy Hart
plays The Narrator who guides us through the week leading up to the stabbing. Unable to go out during the day, he experiences the outside world through the eyes of Tiger, the cat belonging to the eccentric neighbour Karen Moss.

Mark Ralph-Bowman
plays Detective Chief Inspector John Hedgings, an old-school copper who approaches the investigation from a very traditional perspective. He leads an investigation which, at first glance, appears to be a typical tragic domestic attack that has ended in the stabbing and death of Paul Rogers.

Jenny Johns plays Detective Inspector Sandra Watson, who, like Hedgings, is determined to find a rational explanation for what has happened. DI Watson previously studied psychology, which gives her a particular ability to analyse people.

Sam Henry plays Police Constable Martin Riggs, who joins the investigation partly as a result of budget cuts. He's an extra pair of legs to help follow up leads and is also more knowledgeable about technology than the rest of the team. His only distraction is DI Watson, whom he has a crush on and is trying very hard not to let it affect his work.

Eloise Coyle plays Karen Moss, the eccentric neighbour whose familiar is a cat called Tiger. Initially, she calls the police to report the strange disturbance involving Paul and Alyssa Rogers.

But Karen may know considerably more about what is happening on Crantham Street than she is letting on…

Gill Cartmel plays Patricia Sinclair, the local postwoman who uses her job to move around the neighbourhood largely unnoticed, quietly gathering information as she goes.

Naeem Chudry
plays The Duty Sergeant, who oversees the staff at Wendleton Police Station while Alyssa Rogers is under arrest and awaiting charge.

As the day progresses towards evening, events at the front desk begin to descend into disarray and chaos, leaving the Duty Sergeant to deal with a situation that is far from what he expected when the day began.

Francesca Louise White plays Dr Chivers, a local GP who is called to the police station to carry out a medical assessment of Alyssa Rogers, who has developed a fever and uncontrollable shaking.

Later, Dr Chivers is contacted by the morgue and given some disturbing information.
